Encik Zainal Abidin bin Jamal

Encik Zainal Abidin bin Jamal (“Encik Zainal”) is an advocate and solicitor by profession. He founded Messrs Zainal Abidin & Co. Advocates & Solicitors on 2 November 1987 and is currently a Senior Partner with the firm. He is also an empanelled arbitrator of Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) since 2014.

Encik Zainal is currently the Director of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad and Prominent Beauty Sdn Bhd. He is also the Chairman of Global Humanitarian Fund, a Company Limited by Guarantee incorporated in United Kingdom. He has previously held other directorships on the boards of various public listed companies, public companies and private limited companies in the manufacturing, plantation, property development, banking and finance, and transportation industries.

Encik Zainal served in the Singapore Armed Forces (Infantry) between December 1972 and June 1975. He later read law at the University of Singapore between June 1975 and April 1979, and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Singapore and enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor, Supreme Court of Singapore in 1980. In June 1980, he served as a First Class Magistrate, Judicial Department, Brunei and was enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor in Brunei in 1982. Encik Zainal later served as the Company Secretary of Harissons Malaysian Plantations Berhad between August 1983 and April 1986. He was enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court, States of Malaya in November 1986.

Tan Sri Abd Ghafar Mahmud

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abd Ghafar bin Mahmud was previously the Director General of Education, Ministry of Education of Malaysia. Beginning as a teacher in 1977 within the Malaysian Education Officer Service, he further developed his career by serving in various capacities and levels in school, State Education Department and the Ministry of Education. He served as a school principal from 1998 to 2001. In 2001 he was appointed as a Principal Assistant Director in School Division of the Ministry of Education and was progressively promoted as the head of various divisions in the ministry i.e. the Director of Sports Division, Chief Inspector of the School Inspectorate Division and Director of the Institute Aminuddin Baki (educational leadership training centre).

The most significant contribution of Tan Sri Abd Ghafar to Malaysia’s education system development is his role as taskforce leader in formulating the Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2025). The blueprint has come to be the main agenda of Malaysian government educational policy, a legacy he left to safeguard and prosper the education of future generation.

On his retirement, he was appointed by Minister of Education as Chairman of National Book Council and Chairman of Kota Buku Corporation. The Ministry has also appointed him as an advisor for a special project i.e. the Fully Residential Schools as well as a board member of PADU (Education Performance Delivery Unit) under the Ministry of Education.

Currently he is the Chairman of Genovasi University College Council, Chairman of Genovasi Foundation, Chairman of Yayasan Sarana Pendidikan (NGO), Members of the Board of Trustees for Yayasan Telekom Malaysia dan Yayasan Tenaga Nasional.

Tan Sri Abd Ghafar also heads the taskforce group in formulating a special project called GENOSIS. The project was funded by EPU to improve classroom delivery system emphasises on inquiry based learning.

In recognition of his service to the nation he was awarded the AAP (2002), DIMP (2008), SSAP (2011) by DYMM Sultan Pahang and PSM (2012) by DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong. As a government servant he also was awarded with the Excellence Service Award in 1993, 1994 and 2005.

Professor Tan Sri Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak

Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak (or for short, Dzul) is currently the Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia. 

He was the ‎Vice Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 2000-2011. In addition, he is the immediate past president of the International Association of Universities (IAU), a UNESCO-affiliated organisation, based in Paris. He was also the Convenor of the Regional Centre for Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development based in USM beginning 2005, and in recognition of “his long term commitment to a sustainable approach to international higher education”, Dzul was awarded the prestigious 2017 Gilbert Medal by Universitas 21.  Currently, he is a Fellow of various academies including the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc), the World Academy of Art and Science (FWAAS) and the World Academy of Islamic Management (FWAIM).

His other international involvements include being an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham since 2014, and more recently appointed the Senior Advisor at Asia-Europe Institute (AEI), UM. He is also the Co-Chair of Right Livelihood College Steering Committee based at University of Bonn, and an Advisory Board Member of Institute of Sustainable Development and Learning in Leuphana, Germany since June 2019‎. He was an invited speaker at The 2015 Nobel Dialogue in Sweden and The 2020 Nobel Dialogue in South Korea scheduled in September 2020.

Dzul was awarded the 2017 Tokoh Akademik Negara (National Academic Laureate) and is a recipient of Honorary Doctorate from various international and local universities. He was conferred Professor Emeritus by USM in October 2018, whilst Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) conferred him an Honorary Doctorate of Dakwah and Islamic Management in November 2019, in recognition of his efforts in widening the dimensions of dakwah through various research and leadership while serving at the University.  Additionally, the Government of Japan has also recognized his contribution to the academic collaboration and exchanges between the two nations and has conferred him “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” in September 2019.

A seasoned columnist for almost 25 years now, Dzul also writes weekly in the Op-Ed column for Malaysia’s dailies, The New Straits Times.

Encik Mohd Adam bin Mohd Said

Encik Mohd Adam bin Mohd Said (“Encik Mohd Adam”) is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Profess Consulting Group Sdn Bhd, a group of consulting companies providing services in the areas of Strategy & Management (Sageconsulting Sdn Bhd), Human Resource (Irshad HR Consulting Sdn Bhd), ICT (Multimedia Consulting Sdn Bhd), Technical Consulting (Global Performance Technical Consulting Sdn Bhd) and Executive Search (AP Global Talent Link Sdn Bhd).

Encik Mohd Adam’s other current posts include: Chairman of Board of Directors of Medic IG Holdings Sdn Bhd, Director of UPM Holdings Sdn Bhd, Director of UPM Education & Training Sdn Bhd, Director of WSA Capital Corporation Sdn Bhd and Director of Hospital Pakar An-Nur Sdn Bhd. He is also Deputy President of Muslim Business Network and a Member of the Board of Trustees of Hidayah Centre Foundation. He was also Industry Advisor for Faculty of Economics & Business, UNIMAS for two terms.

Encik Mohd Yuzaidi bin Mohd Yusoff

Encik Mohd Yuzaidi bin Mohd Yusoff (“Encik Mohd Yuzaidi”) is the co-owner of Tecnostcraft Sdn Bhd, the sole appointed distributor for MarkAny solutions in Malaysia, one of the world’s leading Enterprise Digital Rights Management and watermarking solutions provider from Korea.  A professional with over 25 years of consulting and entrepreneurial experience in Asia in various trades and diversified portfolio of companies and industries. Previously employed by Arthur Andersen, Andersen Consulting and Accenture prior to setting up a boutique consulting firm, Clear Minds Sdn Bhd.  Served as a nominee director for a couple of Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PNS) invested companies.  He was the Group Chief Strategy and Corporate Governance Officer for PST Ventures Sdn Bhd.

He is the current Chairman of the Muslim Professionals Forum (MPF), a grouping of Muslim professionals that strive to achieve a credible intellectual engagement and dialogue on issues that touch on Islamic beliefs, practices, culture, social and thought with a wide cross-section of the Malaysian society.

Encik Mohd Yuzaidi graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from the Northern Illinois University, USA and obtained his Master of Science (Business Administration) from San Diego State University, USA in 1988.

Encik Nor Hizam bin Hashim

Encik Nor Hizam bin Hashim (“Encik Nor Hizam”) is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”).

He has worked in both the private and public sectors. He spent 30 years in senior and top management appointments in various multinational companies, oil & gas, plantations, manufacturing and telecommunication industries such as Esso, Unilever, Raleigh Bhd. and Telekom Malaysia Bhd.  Thereafter, he was appointed as an Advisor in the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department and in Unit Kerjasama Awam Swasta (UKAS), Prime Minister’s Department where he contributed in enhancing the Government’s privatisation model through better risk and cost/return management and towards the development and management of a new Government entity responsible for private-public partnerships in Malaysia.

Encik Nor Hizam has also served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Berhad, Maybank Islamic Berhad, and MCB Bank Limited, the second largest bank in Pakistan. He is currently the Independent Non-Executive Director of the Minority Shareholders Watch Group (“MSWG” or its official name, Badan Pengawas Pemegang Saham Minoriti Berhad) and a Non-Executive Director of Koperasi Borneo Berhad.

Encik Nor Hizam has a Bachelors degree in Commerce (majoring in finance, accounting and economics) from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelors degree in Jurisprudence (Hons.) from the University of Malaya.
